RILAX COMPETITVE - TOURNAMENT TEAMS
Girls Grade 5th/6th, and 7th/8th

East Bay Lacrosse is a member of the  Rhode Island Youth Lacrosse League (RIYLL) which is the governing body for all youth lacrosse in the entire state of Rhode Island.   In 2009 the league unanimously approved the formation of a competitive format for boys.
For the 2010 season, girls in grades 5th/6th, and 7th/8th grades will have competitive teams too!

All of our 2009 Boy's competitive teams reached the playoffs in 2009.   Our East Bay Boys 7th/8th team won the state championship!

Teams will also be invited to participate in three post season Tournaments for an additional fee. The tentative tournaments are The Spring Into Summer (girls), The Camel Jam (boys & girls), The Granite State (girls & boys)and the NESLL Bulldog Classic (boys & girls). All tournaments end before summer is in full swing and are great fun and provide some challenging competition!

Competitive Teams have published scores, standings and a championship playoff. Players wishing to participate on a competitive team are selected via tryouts.    All players who want to try out for competitive or want to play recreational at each grade level will practice together during the pre-season.   Impartial evaluators will be at these sessions giving all players plenty of opportunity to showcase their talents. They will be evaluating catching, throwing, shooting, strong hand, weak hand, dodging, cradling, and checking skills to name a few.

Additionally, a player’s athletic ability, field awareness, team-orientation, potential and attitude will be key factors too. Approximately, 1 to 1 ½ weeks prior to the opening 2010 season in April the competitive and recreational teams will be announced.   For the girls we expect to have one recreational and one competitive team at the grade 5/6 and 7/8 levels.

All players who are chosen for the competitive team are expected to make this the highest priority in terms of all spring sports they play. If you cannot make this type of commitment then the recreational team may be your best option.

Pre-season practices and evaluations for the competitive teams will start at the beginning of February 2010. Selections sessions willbe held on Thursdays at Sherwood Ultrasports beginning in January. A schedule will be released in last December with more information.
