What equipment does my player need?

Please see below for two very important equipment safety updates.

(1) Chest Protectors:

  • Beginning in 2021, the use of goalie chest protectors that meet the new NOCSAE performance standard is now mandatory in the US Lacrosse boys’ and girls’ youth rules.
  • Goalie chest protectors used after January 1, 2021 must be designed for lacrosse and meet the NOCSAE standard, ND200.
  • Beginning in 2022, US Lacrosse boys’ field players, NFHS boys’ field players, and NCAA men’s field players must also wear chest protection that meets the NOCSAE ND200 standard.

(3) General Equipment Information:

First-time lacrosse parents can face a large learning curve in determining how to properly equip their children for play, especially those that have never played or seen a live game.

US Lacrosse is helping to take the legwork out of this process with a new Equipment Fitting Guide that helps provide first-time buyers, parents and players with suggested guidelines in purchasing equipment for boys' and girls' field players and goalies. It includes a photo of a player wearing equipment and description for each position in both games.

The pamphlets are being provided free-of-charge by US Lacrosse as a public service for new lacrosse consumers and the guide is also available online.
